Every year, the Fonds National pour la Recherche Scientifique (F.R.S.-FNRS) awards grants to scientists from the universities of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, enabling them to devote themselves to their scientific research. Among the grants awarded this year, 107 went to ULiège scientists.

The FRS-FNRS (Fonds National de la Recherche Scientifique) is a non-profit foundation whose aim is to promote scientific research in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation by granting subsidies to scientists to enable them to devote themselves to their research, and to institutions to enable them to equip or operate research units. For more than 90 years, the FNRS has contributed to the development of basic research in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation through its policy of encouraging scientific excellence and supporting researchers at different stages of their careers.

Measuring seven metres in diameter and nearly fourteen metres in length, FOCAL 7 will be the CSL’s largest vacuum chamber, and one of the largest in Europe !
