Laureate of an MSCA IF scholarship, Camille Chatelle carried out her research under the direction of Steven Laureys at the Cyclotron Research Center (GIGA) of ULiège, where the field of research ranges from the synthesis and production of radiopharmaceuticals to in vivo imaging in positron emission tomography (PET), but also in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and electrophysiology.

C

amille Chattele research project is to better characterize the fluctuation of vigilance in brain-injured patients with altered state of consciousness. In fact, this population is known to show behavioral responses at the bedside, which may vary from hour to hour or day to day, complicating the clinical diagnosis of the level of consciousness and influencing cares and rehabilitation. The idea is to use the ocular responses (eyelid opening, blinks, pupillary diameter) to predict the level of vigilance of a patient. This project is done in collaboration with a spin-off of the University of Liège (Phasya) which also helps us to develop a prototype adapted for patients with severe brain injury, allowing us to collect such data.
