To have previously followed module A2-VALO1 ‘Towards innovation, Introduction to Intellectual Property ’ or equivalent.

The following topics will be discussed :

  • IP rights (copyright, trademarks, patents, etc.)
  • The criteria of patentability : focus on
    • Prior art analysis;
    • Inventive step
  • The steps of a patent application till granted patent
  • Structure of patent document
  • Patentable or non-patentable invention.


A patent is an exclusive right granted for an invention -a product or process that provides a new way of doing things, or that offers a new technical solution to a problem.

This participative seminar will be of advanced level, for those who already have notion of IP and patents. We will go deeper into the different patentability criteria, the steps of the patent procedure and the analysis of a patent document.

Developed skills

This training will enable participants to understand the patent system, the evaluation of the criteria of patentability, the structure of patent documents and to add this value into their project.
