Three ULiège projects selected for Welbio Investigator Program funding
As part of the Welbio Investigator Program call for projects, two FARAH projects and one GIGA project were selected for funding at the Université de Liège.
As a public university open to the world and is anchored in the scientific, cultural and economic development of its region, the University of Liège relies on its three pillars: teaching, research and civic engagement.
ULiège trains responsible citizens who are provided with cutting-edge knowledge and critical thinking, are able to share knowledge and can push forward an increasingly complex world.
ULiège develops and promotes excellence in research, multidisciplinary and direct engagement with its instruction.
Global exposure is a top priority at the University of Liège. The institution offers a wide range of international mobility opportunities to students, researchers and staff, enabling them to enhance their cross-disciplinary skills and language knowledge.
ULiège: an experience of daily living. Located in 3 cities and 4 campuses, the university is a key player in terms of the environment and mobility.
The Commission des Titres d'Ingénieur (CTI, France) has just renewed the accreditation of the bioscience engineering and engineering degrees organized by the Faculty Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech and the School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Liège. In addition to the CTI accreditation, these programmes are also awarded the EUR-ACE (European Quality Label for Engineering Degree Programmes) label, which certifies the highest quality in engineering education in Europe.
The CTI accreditation and the EUR-ACE label allow Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech and the School of Engineering and Computer Science of ULiège to confirm their position among the best engineering and bioscience engineering schools in Europe. Thanks to these accreditations, students graduating from Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech and the School of Engineering and Computer Science of ULiège are allowed to use the very protected title of "ingénieur diplômé" in France. They also make it possible to pursue partnership policies with French and more generally European engineering schools, particularly through co-diplomation programmes.
At the School of Engineering and Computer Science, the MSc. in Aerospace Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical and Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Geological and Mining Engineering and Mechanical Engineering are all awarded the esteemed CTI accreditation.
At Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech, all the bioscience engineering degrees (Masters in Agricultural Sciences, Chemistry and Bioindustries, Environmental Sciences and Technologies, Forest and Nature Management) are recognised by the CTI for the maximum period of five years.
Prof. Éric DELHEZ, Dean of the School of Engineering: "This accreditation brings recognition of the work accomplished to ensure the quality of our training programs in a process that combines support by Advisory Boards from the professional community, feedback from alumni and inputs from the students themselves. The CTI experts underline the high level of expertise of the graduates of the School of Engineering and Computer Science of ULiège, the very good appreciation of their training by companies as well as the relevance of the competency-based approach put into practice in the various programmes. »
He adds: " The recognition by the CTI and the European label EUR-ACE put ULiège's various engineering programmes on the map at the international level. With the organisation of complete trainings in English and the development of international Erasmus Mundus excellence programmes, this accreditation further opens ULiège's doors to the world and, in particular, facilitates exchanges with leading French academic and industrial partners. "
Prof. Frédéric FRANCIS, Dean of the Faculty of Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech: " The renewal of this accreditation illustrates the proactivity and dynamism of the Faculty of Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech. It is committed to continuously improving the quality of teaching. The bioscience engineering fields are constantly evolving as society's expectations are increasingly numerous and interdisciplinary. Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech is thus continuing its development, both within its exceptional campus and abroad, in order to concretely link the content of its training courses with innovations resulting from research to meet the needs of our graduates' employers.
