Since 2006, the University of Liège has supported the creation and development of spin-offs based on its research. These companies leverage the technologies, expertise, and know-how developed within the University, with the support of RISE and Gesval.

As of 2026, the ULiège spin-off ecosystem comprises 166 spin-off companies created since 2006, 114 of which are still active.  They cover a wide range of fields such as health, biotechnology, engineering, digital technology, the environment, energy, agri-food, and the humanities and social sciences. The University, through Gesval, its investment and technology transfer company, remains a shareholder in about forty of these startups.

To better reflect the diversity of the ties between these companies and the University, the spin-offs are presented according to three categories: portfolio companies, licensed companies, and historical companies. This page presents the portfolio companies—that is, the spin-offs in which the University, through Gesval, still holds an equity stake.
