Many international and national, public and private organizations support researchers in their efforts by funding all or part of their research projects.
European or international projects
Horizon2020 is the current European Union Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. The University of Liège actively participates in it through projects that involve basic exploratory research, the training of researchers, the development of infrastructure and the implementation of collaborations with partners in the private sector.
Regional development projects
The objective of the European Structural and Investment Funds is to invest in job creation and in a healthy and sustainable European economy and environment. Funding is directed in particular towards research and innovation. The University of Liège is involved in this dynamic via numerous projects in relation to the specific territorial characteristics of Wallonia (ERDF-SPW) or in cross-border and European collaboration (INTERREG).
National and regional projects
The Belgian federal services, Wallonia and the Federation Wallonie Bruxelles implement a series of funding programmes in direct support of research or in support of their respective competences. These funds are therefore broad in scope and ULiège researchers are involved in projects ranging from basic research to research oriented towards socio-economic applications.
