Catalogue des formations transversales 2023-2024 118 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Who is this training offer dedicated to? Our free of charge training sessions are available to all ULiège visiting as well as permanent researchers. Registration is nevertheless essential and in case of impediment, it is compulsory to notify us so that the first person on the reserve list can be contacted. What is transversal training? Whether you are a PhD student or an experienced researcher, our training offer was designed to accompany you straight from the beginning of your research career as well as further on, and to help you develop your skills along your professional career and regardless your area of expertise. Are you a PhD student? A part of your doctoral programme can be devoted to transversal skills training. You have the opportunity to earn a dozen of credits by participating in transversal training activities like the training programmes referred in our guide, but also by supervising a Masters dissertation, by going abroad, or by participating in seminars... Check out the setup of ULiège doctoral training is outlined below. How and when can I register for transversal-training? Enrolment via the online registration form: - At the beginning of the academic year for the first semester courses. - From mid-January for the second-semester courses. First come, first served. If a training is no longer appearing on the list, it is complete. You can register on the reserve list by e-mail: doc-training@uliege.be When will I receive my certificate of attendance? Attendance certificates are sent out by the end of each semester: - No later than January 15th of the following year for trainings attended from October to December, - No later than June 15th for training sessions attended from January to June (so that you have time enough to fill in your data in myULiège before your annual evaluation). It is imperative to complete the evaluation form that is sent to you after each training. This form is automatically closed one week after the training session’s date. How many credits can I get per training? In general terms, you will earn one credit for each day of training. Shorter trainings generally do not refer to any credits. However, be aware that your doctoral college may eventually grant you additional credits for a set of activities that you have agreed upon with your PhD supervisor and -committee. Please keep in mind that the content of the doctoral training is much more important than the number of credits you’ll be granted after enrolment, especially since the total of earned credits does no longer appear on your degree/ study record. In MyULiège, however, credit counting is still in force to allow your doctoral college to be sure that you have followed a full PhD programme and collected at least 60 credits. How do I know if my registration has been considered? You will receive an email as soon as you have completed the registration form. Consider that you are enrolled in the courses as soon as you register and please block the date(s) in your diary. A notification mail that contains practical information about the training will be sent to you approximately two weeks before the training. If you are on the reserve list, you will also be notified. I enrolled in a training and I have an impediment? Out of respect for our work, the trainers’ time and involvement and the other participants, we ask you to inform us about any impediment as soon as possible by mail (doc-training@ULiège.be), at least 24h in advance. By doing so, we will be able to propose your place to another researcher. There are generally many participants
